i. GENERAL POLICY

 

It is our policy to provide equal employment opportunity to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability in all personnel actions including recruitment, evaluation, selection, promotion, compensation, training and termination.

 

It is also our policy to promote the realization of equal employment opportunity through a positive, continuing program of specific practices designed to ensure the full realization of equal employment opportunity without regard to race, color, religion, national origin or sex.

 

KOZE AM-FM is dedicated to providing broad outreach regarding job vacancies, and we seek the help of local organizations in referring qualified applicants. II. RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION

 

Mike Ripley, President / General Manager will be responsible for the administration and implementation of our Equal Employment Opportunity Program. It will also be the responsibility of all persons making employment decisions with respect to recruitment, evaluation, selection, promotion, compensation, training and termination of employees to ensure that our policy and program is adhered to and that no person is discriminated against in employment because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability.

 

III. INTERNAL RECORD KEEPING Ð POSITIONS FILLED

 

During the reporting period of June 1, 2003 and May 15, 2004, KOZE Radio had openings for 2 part-time on air announcers. Although hiring part time employees does not require full recruitment, KOZE did follow the full recruitment to ensure that the in the case of an available full time position the new employees would be eligible for internal promotion.

To fill these vacancies the station utilized the following recruitment sources and (#) of referrals from each source:

¤     Walla Walla Community College (0)

A total of 13 applicants and 4 were interviewed. Referral sources for the candidates interviewed were:

 

1.     Lewiston Morning Tribune (2)

2.     Lewis Clark State College (1)

3.     Lewiston Job Service (1). 

 

Candidates hired were referred by Lewis Clark State College and the Lewiston Morning Tribune.

 

IV. SUPPLEMENTAL RECRUITMENT MEASURES

 

KOZE Radio will continue to strive to update, refine, and expand its recruitment sources through further efforts in the months and years ahead and intends to use the improved lists for virtually all job openings.

 

V. LONG TERM RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

 

In addition to the Supplemental Recruitment obligations listed above, KOZE Radio is committed to performing at least two of the long-term EEO recruitments set forth in the FCCÕs EEO rules within a two-year period. From June 1, 2003 through May 15, 2003, KOZE Radio engaged in the following long-term recruitment initiative:

 

  1. Participation in Scholarship Program Ð Michael R. Ripley, President and General Manager participated in the selection process for the Idaho State Broadcasters Association Educational Scholarship. Recipients were granted a scholarship to help further their training in the media.
  2. Lewis Clark State College Welcome Fair Ð August 26, 2003. Ð Station personnel, including the Program Director, were available to welcome students back to college, answer their questions regarding a career in broadcasting and to make them aware of internship and job shadow opportunities at KOZE Radio.
  3. Job Shadowing - In conjunction with local junior and senior high schools, the radio station participated in a job shadowing program in 2003 and 2004. The students shadowed various on-air staff. They discussed the duties of on-air personalities Ð including meter reading, logs, music rotation, how computers are used in radio, copy writing, commercial production and live remote equipment. Through hands on experience, the students were able to run the console, read public service announcements, weather and announce songs. They were schooled in what is and what is not allowed on the radio and what training and education is needed for various employment positions and career opportunities in the broadcast industry.
